Question
respected sir,
law of karma says whatever happens in our life is due to our karma.then,it is clear that we suffer due to our karma. To say,all disease like cancer occur because of our karma, ten why should we bother about our health.
in other words, why should we say "drive slow" ,if someone is going to die because of his karma. It all seem like pre-planned.
am confused over this.

Answer
Hi,

Karma means actions that are done MOSTLY in this birth. It appears that you have understood Karma to mean actions done in the past births. While that is partly true, they do not have as much impact on our current life as the actions done in the current life.

Karma of the previous birth is the reason for how rich or healthy one is born. If a person is born with some handicap then it is due to his karma done in the past birth. The effect of karma (of the previous birth) start coming down when the ego develops. So only till one reaches adulthood the effect of karma done in the past births will have any effect.

After one becomes adult, the life is mostly governed by the Karma done IN THIS BIRTH. Therefore it is essential to do only good things and avoid all bad actions. The result of BOTH good and bad actions done in the current life will come to you MOSTLY in this current birth itself. Only very little portion of the unused results will be carried forward to the next birth.

So, it is true whatever happens in our life is due to our karma DONE IN THIS BIRTH. Cancer occur mostly because of the actions done in this birth. Therefore it is very important to take care of the health. If you do not, you will suffer the consequences.

Nothing is preplanned. YOU ARE DECIDING YOUR FUTURE through your present actions.

Thanks for asking this important question. If you need more clarifications on this please do not hesitate to ask.
