Question
Respected Swamiji,

Which one among the Mantras a) OM Namasivaya and B)Sivaya Nama is to be recited mentally during meditation
What is the difference between the above two?

2) In one of the answers , it is  advised that meditation should be done only srquentially  as part of Astanga yoga and not before

Pl clear my above doubts

Answer
Dear Vasudevanji,

Namaskar.

Both the mantras mean the same. However, it is better to chant with Om.

The goal of meditation as part of Ashtanga Yoga is to control the mind and it can be done at any time. Always we should keep the goal in the mind and not get confused with the details of the practices. Since control of the mind is the goal you can do it any time and for as much time as possible.

With best wishes,
