Hindus/Collective/ Group prayer

Respected Sir,
Can  collective prayers undertaken  for the welfare of suffering individual mitigate the karmic effects of the individual?
Kindly advise
With respects,
T R Vasudevan

Dear TRV,

What one sows, he HAS TO REAP. There is no exception to this rule. The man's destiny is FULLY under his control only. It is upto the individual to shape his future. No one else can alter/change it in ANYWAY. Therefore, the answer to your question is NO. It will not have any effect in reducing the karmic effects of the concerned individual for whom group prayer is done.

However, such collective/group prayers will bring lots of benefits to those who participate in the prayer. They accumulate lots of punya and surely they will reap the benefit of the same. Karma is done through thoughts, words and deeds. So all the action done with the intention of helping others constitute good karma.

Thanks for asking this question.

Best wishes,
Raja Subramaniyan
