Hindus/How mind perceives sensations?

Respected Sir,
It is said that Mind is not part of the body.
Then how does the sensations felt by the body like heat and cold is perceived by the Mind ?
With respects

Dear TRV,

This question is answered in Kathopanishad. Yes, mind is independent of the body. But it is 'connected' to the body in the same way horses are connected to the rein in the Chariot. Our sense organs are depicted as five horses, the mind as rein, the body as chariot, the intelligence as the charioteer in Kathopanishad.

This is fully explained Shri Jnananda Bharathi in his work called Jeeva Yatra containing 9 verses. Pl see here for the details:

So mind not only perceives the sensations but also controls the sense organs.

Thanks for asking this question.

Best wishes,
