Question
Hi, Thanks for Helping me out
I am doing a research Paper on Operation Dynamo and the Dunkirk Evacuation, and Im doing my Rough Draft, but i Need your help.
My thesis is Operation Dynamo was a succes because of HiTLERS orders
What were those orders?
(The things is that i havent found more info cause i cant use wikipedia)
I know he halted the tanks so England could surrender, but did he ordered some other?
How they affected Op Dynamo?

This will help me a lot to check my research
Thanks

Answer
Hitler halted the tanks to give the Luftwaffe its chance to shine.  Goring promised Hitler that the Air force could pound the allied forces on the beach into complete submission and surrender.  The Panzers needed a rest.  History books never quite give appreciation to the actual feat of arms accomplished by the German military in France, 1940.  They went so far, so fast, it was unbelievable even to the German commanders.  By the time of Operation Dynamo, the Germans were also worried about taking their tired troops up against a cornered and well dug in enemy.  Hitler thought the air force could do the job.  By the time they realized that the Luftwaffe couldn't do the job, the evacuation was already underway and very successful.  I hope this helps.
