Question whos better, mario lemieux or wayne gretzky? at one time, wayne gretzky held 61 nhl records. mario has some records of his own. but think about it, mario lemieux had back problems his whole career, cancer for six weeks,and took a year off. i also believe he had groin injuries. the only injuries i recall for wayne gretzky was shoulder soreness. if mario had played more, wouldnt he had more records points goals and assists and so on? if you look at footage, mario had more skill entering the offensive zone and getting pucks to the net. he had many moves. in conclusion after everything said, whos better? its a very hard decision

That is definitely one great question. Stats wise, Wayne is the best ever. BUT I do think you have a very valid point about Mario... if he would've stayed healthy and played longer, I think he would've come really close to Wayne in stats, possibly earning more. There are certainly points to support either side on this, arguably more so for Wayne than for Mario, but I think besides health, Mario was more creative with his approach than Wayne and for me, that makes him my choice of the two.
