Hockey - NHL pick

Expert: T. Martina - 7/1/2009

Question
If you were the GM of an NHL team and you were able to pick any active player to start a franchise, who would you take and why?

Answer
Hello,

My answer to this will be slightly biased because I am a Detroit Red Wings fan born and raised, but before I reveal my choice, I will admit freely that there are several players that would be the first pick to start a franchise... some teams have rebuilt theirs around these players already... of course I mean Crosby, Ovechkin, Kane, etc.  For me, I would probably have to pick Henrik Zetterberg.  Yeah he's a little older than the players mentioned above, but, he is the type of player that can be looked up to by anyone on the team, a true leader, an established Stanley Cup Champion, and just a talent on both ends of the ice.  He's respected and yet respectful.  Sort of reminds me of Steve Yzerman in a way.

Hope you approve!
