If you pull one of the tags of the strings, you'll see that the bulbs are 2.5 V and .4A.    I've burned out several light bulbs trying to replace them.   I think the amps are typically .2-.3 amps so this may be our problem.

We also have a prelit tree with replacement bulbs #E207908  It also says the voltage is 120 volts FP-04.  I hope this helps.
