QuestionI'm looking into starting an alternative-healthcare-based business, perhaps from home. What are the pitfalls re becoming self-employed?
AnswerHi Geoff,
In my opinion there are so many more benefits than pitfalls but there are some things that you need to have to be successful working for yourself. You have to be able to have a space in your home where no one bothers you when you are working. You need to have the mindset that when you are working you are working and not let anything distract you at home. You have to have a high level of determination and persistence and the ability to have vision and to follow thru. It is important to have a business plan, to set goals and then to take the small steps every day until you achieve your goals. One quality you will need to have is the ability to be self disciplined. One important aspect to success is knowing why you are doing what you are doing. If you have a strong why then you will be able to overcome any of the negatives or setbacks that will come up. Anyone in any business has valleys that will come along but it is important to keep your eye on why you are doing what you are doing. I hope this helps you. Have a great day!
