Home Cooking - Dessert for steak dinner
Expert: Mike MacDonald - 9/24/2008
Question Hey Mike,
A guy I am dating is inviting me to his house for dinner. He's making steaks and potatoes and I would like to bring dessert and drinks. We're in college and underage so we can't drink. So what is a good dessert and non-alcoholic drink that pairs well with steak?
Thanks!
Answer Hi Anie...sorry for the late reply. I am on holidays and forgot to mark myself as away. Anyways, a nice drink to go along with steak is cranberry juice and club soda. 3/4c cranberry juice to 1/4c club soda. You can use any juice for that matter. As for a dessert, here is a copy of one I do...again, you can substitute the berries with a personal favorite. Good luck!!
Cheers
Mike
INGREDIENTS (Serves 4)
1 pound Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons cranberries
2 tablespoons white sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons quick-cooking oats
2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
1/4 cup chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
1- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C.) Butter an 8 inch square baking dish.
2- In a large bowl, mix together apples, cranberries, white sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Place evenly into baking dish.
3- In the same bowl, combine oats, flour and brown sugar. With a fork, mix in butter until crumbly. Stir in pecans. Sprinkle over apples.
