Home Cooking - Christmas dinner

Question
Hello Rebecca,

My boyfriends parents will be visiting us for Christmas. I would like to make sure they have a good time here as well as good meal :) I have never cooked whole turkey and was wondering if you have any tips on making this bird delicious.

I respect them a lot and would like to impress them with my meal.

Thank You!

--Daria

Answer
Make sure you brine your turkey by soaking in a brine solution (brine spices can be found in grocery stores) it will have directions on the container. I don't believe injection of spices is necessary.  Just baste frequently and uncover the last 20 minutes for a brown crispy skin.  Let rest at least 20 minutes after removing from the oven to let juices redistribute.  Figure 1.5 lbs per person of raw turkey to have plenty of leftovers.
