Home Furnishings/Furniture - Living room furniture placement

Expert: Dave Coil - 9/16/2009

Question
Our's is a 12'X16 ft space with a wall on one 16' ft side having two french windows. The other 16' side is open to dining space. While one 12' side is also open to another area, the other 12' side has a door exactly in the middle and through which we enter the living room from outside.
I am at a loss trying to figure out how best to arrange seating here. There is not a single proper L-shaped space where sofas can be placed without making it look unaesthetic. Kindly help.

Answer
It was a poor design of the builder...and it gives very little options.  You will either spread out seating..to leave travel thru the room...or create an island of furniture to walk around.  Yea I know...that was obvious...but, from my limited perspective..thats what it is.
