Home Improvement--General - Water Proofing Cement floor edges

Expert: Steve Young - 10/19/2009

Question
We have a small wood cottage built on the Terrace of our building, after building the wood house we had to layer up the terrace with cement to avoid Water from running on wood house. This cement layer was around 10cm all around the house and covered the Wood walls at the base.
The problem now is that the cement layer did not stick well with the floor and all the water that creeps down the cement goes to the wooden walls.
I am planning to break up the cement surrounding the house and to line the walls with some kind of Water proof foam or plastic and to refill the cement around.
I need some suggestions about this, and a guide about how exactly to go ahead.
Your help will be precious.

Thanks and Regards
Leo

Answer
Hi Leo,
First of all, I love Greece!!  We spent our honeymoon on the island of Patmos and it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.  The Greek people are some of the friendliest and nicest people in the world!
Do you have a digital camera that you could send me some pictures of this project?  It would really help me to be able to see what you are talking about.  I am having a very hard time trying to visualize this situation.
Let me know if you can send some pics.

Thanks,
Steve
