Home Improvement--General/cellar door

Question
Hi Donald,

This weekend, my son and I will be installing a steel door in my home at the bottom of the stairs at the bulkhead.
We have a right angle drill and a hammering drill with masonry bits, but we wonder if renting a compressor and air gun nailer would be a better idea.
What are your thoughts on that?
And, do you have any tips to help us with the installation? Many years ago I helped my late husband install a steel door in the basement of our previous home, but I know I've forgotten some of the details.
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Jeanne,

Installing a steel door with a steel frame can easily be done with tapcon screws if you are installing in the foundation.  You can indeed also use plastic plugs, but I prefer the tapcon screws.

Here is a good link for you to view on the issue. I found this video to be informative.
