Home Improvement--General - replacement window

Expert: Bill Rodgers - 10/29/2009

Question
I got a quote of $15,000 (before the Energy Tax credit of $1500) for 21 SL 2700 double hung replacement windows, fully installed, with life-time warranty on parts and labor. How is SL2700?, Is the total price reasonable?

Answer
Hi David,

I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with "SL2700". Is it a window brand or a line of windows manufactured by someone?

To give you something of a baseline, I typically allow between three to four hours per window for retrofit windows and six to ten hours per window for replacement windows. Add to this something for  sealants, flashings and new trims along with the costs for the windows and you should be able to see into the overall quote pretty well.

I hope this helps you.
