Expert: Bill Rodgers - 11/2/2009
Question Bill, you stated this statement in a previous response about a Therma Tru French Patio Door : Not withstanding that, If you've installed the door, plumb level and square and it still leaks, my bet is that your exposure is beyond what the doors were designed for. If this is the situation is the there a door manufacturer you would recommend if the homeowner can experience driving rain with up 30 to 40 mph winds? My Therma Tru door has leaked since it was installed, the weather stripping has not held and it leaks under the door. I have paid three contractors in the Dallas area to help me with no luck. I had the second floor windows taken out on the second story and had a deck built. Every time it rains hard to where the water hits the back of the house the door leaks down to the first floor. I a looking for a resolution.
Answer Hi Larry,
Therma Tru makes a DP 50 door system that WILL solve your issue.
Check them out here:

Your problem is likely because the contractor chose the cheapest option available rater than match the door system to the exposure.
Best of luck
Bill Rodgers
