Question
Hello, I have a 1954 home with wool insulation in the attic. I remodeled kitchen a few yrs ago and dropped the ceiling drywall to get rid of the wool , what a mess that was. Then i put in fiberglass with vapor barrier.
Now its time to do a bedroom, instead of dropping the ceiling i was thinking about leaving the existing ceiling up and putting up plastic inside the the room and putting up new layer of drywall over the plastic giving me a vapor barrier between the two layers of drywall on the ceiling. Could it cause the inside layer of drywall to stay wet when the plastic traps the humidity?

Mike,
Yes it will cause that to get and stay wet.
You know you can just put faced roll insulation with the paper facing down right on top of the other stuff in your attic and that will provide a vapor barrier.
With this home being built in the fifties, I'm not sure that old insulation isn't asbestos based.
You might want to have that tested since you've already been working in it.
