Home Improvement--General - Marvin Casement Window Lock Repair

Expert: Donald Bosch - 6/20/2009

Question
We have two large wooden Marvin casement windows that have locks broken (one is broken unlocked and one broken in the locked position). We are past our 10 year warranty.  Is there a way to view the lock mechanism without removing mouldings or taking the window apart, to see if I have to order parts or perhaps see an easy fix?

Answer
Hi Steve,

I'm not well versed on Marvin windows, but from what I can tell, they have quite a lot of information on their site at http://www.marvin.com

The lock mechanism is not a complicated matter and replacement parts are easily obtained.  I think that one part is on the casement, the other on the frame.

Sorry I can;t be of more help, but Marvin in not a company that I have ever dealt with up here in Quebec.

regards,

Don.
