Home Improvement--General/Framing in Attic

Hello, Glen. I have three 2X4s in my attic, each with one end toenailed to the floor and the other propped against the outer rafter. I'd like to remove them, as they keep me from taking advantage of storage space. I can't imagine they serve any important role. Perhaps they were used as the house was being built but then never removed? See attached for picture (you can see one in the middle extending toward the vent). Does it seem OK to remove?

Randy- It looks as though the roof framing is trusses. If so some permanent bracing is used for the complete "system". The 2x4s in the picture seem to me like they were bracing for the gable as you suspected. I would remove them- as long as they do not look like they tie into the as built framing bracing schedule.
Feel free to contact me for any reason,
