Question I have a small vocal booth with a window and I was wondering how to
keep the vocals from bouncing off the glass with out having to block the
window. I'm also getting into foley work and was wondering what kind of
set up id need for foley and ADR work,I have an mbox 2.w/pro tools
8,and a marshall MXL V69 mougami edition condensor mic, what else
would I need for that type of work
Answer While there are shields you can purchase to "isolate" the mic, you can simply put some foam about an inch away from the back of the mic (use another mic stand and some clamps with a 1 foot square of foam). Also - if the mic has a cardiod pattern selection, use it. Do not use the figure-8 pattern if you have the choice.
Alternatively, if you are able to angle the glass, I'd suggest that. Having it perpendicular to the floor will invite issues like this.
Get the largest external video monitor you can afford to use for foley & adr (a projector is really good). You want to have a REALLY good view of the actors' lips and mouths for ADR, and with foley work it makes it a lot easier to track movements.
