Question
Hi Larry

I'm new to Recording and need some help setting up my Microphone to my Mixer...

I have a friend coming over to record and I have tried pretty much everything I know and still I can't seem to find a Peak while I'm Recording in Audacity.

I have a Behringer C-3 Condenser Microphone and a Behringer Eurotrack UB1832FX-Pro 18 Track Mixer, I bought the Mic and Mixer a while back and since buying it I have never used it for Recording till now, I have a Phono connection from the Tape input to my Jack input on my Soundcard and have my speakers plugged into the Headphone Jack on my mixer also have the Microphone Plugged into XLR Mic input 1 have turned on the Phantom Power and can hear the Microphone through my Speakers but can't seem to Record it in Audacity, have tried recording in Audacity but it wont even Peak. I would be very grateful if you could help as it is pretty frustrating as I don't really know what I'm doing?

Answer
Hi Adam - Audacity is beyond my area of expertise, but you should try the line/aux input NOT the mic input of your sound card.  From there you should be able to get a level of some kind.  If so, don't go into the red so as not to get into distortion.  Good luck with your mission!
