AboutLarry A. Staffen Expertise I worked in Hollywood Ca. for 17 years as a recording engineer/musician. My forte is in
analog recording (such as tape editing, bias, record/repro alignment, multi-track, mixing,
so much more). As a musician, I also played guitar, keyboards, vocals, music arranging
and occasional trumpet. I was quite busy! But due to health problems... here I am! I can
respond in one to two days. Care to all, Larry

Question Hi Larry,
I'm a college student, and I "work" for a small student run music venue called the Java Barn. We have about $2,000 to spare and we're looking to buy some good recording equipment (Mics, mixers, etc...). I was just wondering what we would need to record fairly loud bands in a small music venue, and what you would consider to be "top of the line" recording equipment for under $2000.
Thanks,
Tuck
Answer Hi Tuck - $2,000 won't buy you much, but for starters, how about some microphones, such as 4 shure SM 57 . A Korg or Roland digital 8 track mixer/recorder. Check out Ebay for good deals. Musicians Friend and Sweetwater Music catalogs for starters. Good luck with your mission!
