Question
greetings. i have a laptop that has 5400 rpm, i wanna record multiple tracks simutaneously, will i go through latency problems? if so, what options are there for me to prevent them? thank you.

Answer
Hey Tim, I record 8 tracks simultaneously on my Macbook Pro with no problems & it's running a 5400 RPM HD, so I don't think it should be too much of a problem. That being said, you shouldn't expect to produce full blown 24 track productions from the laptop either. What I do is I track the band live on the laptop, then transfer the files to my G5 for overdubs/effects/mixdown. You'll have to play around with it a bit to see what kind of track count you can expect. Start at 24 bit, 44K & go as far as you can with a test project,  (Overdubs, FX, mixing etc) so you get to know the limitations of your system & then if you need a higher track count, you can try switching to 16 bit. You won't have the headroom of 24, but it will definitely increase HD performance. Hope that helps, if you need anything else just drop me a line.
Peace - J.
