Question
Hey Larry. I wanna start up a decent studio, for example ; the whole big mixer thing, with a bunch of rack FX going on, etc. Although, i'm fairly new to how they all connect and function. I'm pretty sure the external effects connect to the mixer, or am I wrong? What's the certain way to connect them? What kind of mixer would I need to do such a thing, and why? Please help me, i'll really appreciate it. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Zildjian - First of all, I guess I'll have to answer your questions with more questions.  How mny tracks are you trying to achieve... 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, or 64?  This may sound absurd, but believe this!  "The multitrack recorder is man's greatest contribution to indecision".  I'll recomment this book for you:  "Modern Recording Techniques" by Robert E. Runstein and Miles Huber.  It's available through Amazon Books... used too.  A good read, this will give you greater insight to your needs.  Good luck with your mission!
