Home Theater - Hdtv and hdmi cable help?

Expert: Bobbert - 10/25/2009

Question
im getting a new hdtv soon and was wondering if i have 3 hd components (blu-ray player, time warner cable box, and ipod dock) would i need 4 hdmi cables? one for the tv? so my question is does my tv by itself without any components need an hdmi cable?

Answer
No, I see no reason to have a connection cable with no devices to connect, you will want to use the HDMI cables for your HD sources, the Blu-ray player and HD cable box (if it has HDMI output), the iPod dock may or may not have HDMI output, although honestly I wouldn't be overly concerned in this regard, unless you've got a whole mess of HD content for your iPod.
