Home Theater - PS3/Hometheater Video/Audio trouble

Question QUESTION: Hi. I have a Panasonic Dvd player/Home theater that i have connected to my Panasonic TV in HD. My problem is that I have a PS3 as well that I am trying to hook into the Dvd/Home theater in order to get Surround Sound with my blue-ray movies. With the HDMI hooked from my PS3 to my tv, and my optical going from PS3 to Dvd/Home Theater for audio, I am either getting video with NO sound or no video WITH sound. Not sure how to correct this. My PS3 is hooked into the tv in the HDMI 3 port and Dvd/Home Theater is hooked into the HDMI 2 port (so i get the video only if on Port 3 and the audio only if on Port 2) Are my connections wrong or is there something else i should know about that I have not done?
Thanx.
ANSWER: The TV is independent of the home theatre, you can set the TV to Port 3 and the home theatre to its auxiliary digital input, which will give you sound and video at once.

QUESTION: Thank you for the response. Unfortunately that is how I have my settings right now. On my PS3 i have my Audio Output Settings set to Digital Out (Optical). On my DVD/Home Theater I have the Input Select set to Digital In. Is this what you meant? Also, I failed to mention in my first question that the DVD/Home Theater is in fact a 2-in-1 so I can't have the Home Theater speakers working without the DVD player being on as well. So when I hear the sound from my PS3 i see the main DVD background if in port 2. (or just the PS3 background with no sound if in port 3. Again, thank you for your help and patience
Answer The TV needs to be set to HDMI 3, in order to get a video feed from the PS3, while the home theatre unit needs to be set to its auxiliary digital input, in order to get an audio feed from the PS3. If this configuration is impossible, the issue is with the home theatre unit, honestly I would suggest replacing it with a more compatable unit if this is the case.
