Question
I have the Panasonic SC-PT770, I have an optical cable from my sony bravia to the receiver and an HDMI from the receiver to the TV. My cable box/xbox have HDMI cables hooked up to my TV. I dont hear surround sound when I am on my xbox or when I watch TV. I do get surround when I watch a DVD through the receiver. Please help, thanks!

Answer
Hello Thomas, Surround sound comes from the surround sound encoded DVD disks or from TV, if the broadcast is in surrouns sound.
You will not have surround sound from TV if you have not subscribed to HD  service and similarly no surround sound from X-Box if the disk is not producing the surround sound.

Thanks

Any question regarding Home Theater Systems. What to buy? How to do the hookup and troubleshoot. (Only surround sound hook up) Please note that I am not a technician. I do not do projectors. When sending me questions, please make sure you provide me with as much information on your equipment as possible. I would like to know on each equipment you are connecting, if you have HDMI, Optical and or Digital Coaxial ports and how many. Do not forget to include make and model of your equipment......Thanks
