Home Theater - Connecting Samsung equipment

Question
Hi M A...I have a Scientific Atlantic HDTV model Explorer 8300HD cable box....a Samsung PN50B550 Plasma TV....a Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD/VCR recorder and a Samsung HT-Z320 home theater. I'm hoping you can give me some simple (A,B,C)instructions to connect all this equipment the most direct and efficient way to maximize the audio and video output. I have instructions in users manuals, but there are so many different ways to connect that I end up confused.I need to know exactly which cables I need and where they are to be connected so that I can record show to the cable box DVR...copy these to the DVD/VCR and playback DVDs with the home theater. Right now I have a HDMI cable from the cablebox to the TV and a optical cable from the home theater to the cable box.The cable stations with sound work fine but when I playback a DVD from home theater I get sound but no picture. Sadly the DVD/VCR recorder is not at all connected.Your help will be greatly appreciated

Answer
Hello Mike,
I will give you a basic configuration of how you should have this equipment connected. I do not know the type of ports you have and my answer will be very generic.

For you to have your cable box/dvr connected the way you described it. You would need a 1-2 splitter. You can buy the splitter at your favorite electronics shop. You need to split your signal from Cable box. One side of the splitter signal will be fed to the TV and the other to your DVD /VCR.
Audio out of the DVD/VCR goes to your HT system and Video to Video 1 on your TV.

Your existing connections will remain the same..

Thanks
