Home Theater - surround sound

Expert: Bobbert - 11/10/2009

Question
Hi I was wondering if you could help me I recently bought a RCA surround sound system but while playing a dvd I can only get sound through my surround sound speakers and when I play it through cable channels I can hear it through both I'm confused! Please help!

Answer
This is likely normal, the surround sound system will not pass audio to the TV, as it uses its own speakers, and the TV is supposed to pass audio back to the surround receiver. In this case, you can disable the TV's speakers, as the surround sound system is likely more ideal for handling audio.
