Home Theater/Coax to RCA conversion

Question
David, I am trying to connect local cable company (coax) to a customers ceiling mounted projector.  Projector does not have coax input.  Projector does have wall plate with RCA inputs.  I have been told I need an RF modulator and something else to convert cable tv F connector to RCA.  I do not need specific brand names of devices but the actual device names would help.  Also how would I change the channel on the projector.  Would I need to place a cable box between the two?  Thanks in advance for the help.

Answer
Hi Bill,

The simplest thing to do is to use a VCR to do the channel tuning as well as provide the audio/video you need for the projector.

Just connect the cable to the VCR and connect its A/V outputs to the projector.

Since plain jane VCRs are hard to find these days, even one of the VCR/DVD player combos should work as well.  Be sure that whatever you use has the A/V outputs that work with the tuner.

Hope this gives you food for thought. If so,and you have more questions, just come back in with a follow up.

Happy New Year!!
