Home Theater/RCA Wiring

Question
I'm trying to wire my new home for Home Theater and I would like to place the Sub on the other side of the room from the receiver. My plan is to connect the receiver and the sub through a wall RCA connector. The problem is that I don't know what type of wire to use to connect these. I will be running Cat5e, RG6 QS, and 14 gauge speaker wire in the house already.

Answer
Hi Philip,

Just install a run of RG-6 coaxial cable from your amp to the sub to carry the sub signals from the sub pre-out connector on the amp.  If you can not find coaxial/RCA connectors, just put a standard "F" connector on both ends of the coax and get an F to RCA adapter. This will work fine--I do it all the time on installs. Be sure you have a power outlet for the sub near its intended location.

Hope this gives you food for thought. If so, and you have more questions, just come back in with a follow up.
