Question
The car just cut off, check the main relay and fuel pmp,but not getting power to the fuel pmp.,replaced distr. and car still turns over, but will not start

Answer
Hey Mac,

I don't know the full story, what do you mean by "car just cut off", does it mean as you were driving? Or do you mean that it just won't start?I'll just make the assumption that is the 2nd one.

It's really hard to make a diagnosis when I don't know the particular model (accord, civic), the mileage (helps out a lot because Honda problems can almost always be determined by mileage) and the circumstances that led to the problem.

The fact that the car turns over rules out Starter and solenoid, so the next thing to check would be fuel delivery. It could be a clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump (dead). The fuel pump has a fuel pump relay, not a main relay.

Considering that it is a 1991, 18+ years old, it is very likely that it is dead fuel pump. Most Honda fuel pumps go after 150k and up, the reason for listing the mileage of a vehicle when asking for a diagnosis.

I would go ahead and replace the fuel filter at the same time as well due to the age of the car as part of maintenance and to rule out that problem as well.
