Honda Repair - check engine light

Expert: Ara - 2/27/2008

Question
I have a 1999 Honda Lx.  The check engine light came on due to low oil.  The oil has been changed and replaced and the light is still on.  What can I do to get the light to go off.
Thanks
J.P.

Answer
First you need to have a professional check the oil pressure & make sure the oil gets up to the valves.
Second the "Check Engine Light" does not come on if you have low oil pressure. There must be another reason for the MIL(Malfunction Indicator Light" to come on.
What is the code stored in the ECM(Electronic Control Module)?
