Question I am driving a '97 CRV and the engine Check light is consistently ON. The dash and the engine went OFF after driving a long distance. The engine went on after waiting for a few minutes but the check light is still on. What could be the cause and the solution?
Answer I am going to need some more information. If the check engine light is on, then there is a fault stored in the cars computer. You need to take your car into a qualified mechanic & have the computer scanned & they should be able to give you a 3 or 4 digit number which is the code. The code can be looked up for the affected circuit & then troubleshooted to figure out what is wrong with your car. There is no way to properly diagnose your problem until this is done because there are multiple circuits that can cause an engine to shut off.
