Honda Repair - driver side door panel

Expert: Matthew Day - 1/7/2009

Question
How do I take off the driver side door panel so I can try and fix my window it will not roll up.  I have a 1996 Honda civic DX the window is not power

Answer
You have to have a pick with an angled head to get the retaining clip off from behind the window crank. You also have to remove the screw from the interior door handle cover & remove the screw inside the pocket in the center of the door. Usually, the window crank will strip out, not very common for a window regulator to fail, but it does happen. If it needs a window regulator, you also have to replace the window channel run which is the rubber molding that the window rides up & down in.
