I had same the problem, It was the kick down cable, thank you! "1989 Accord EX-i" Just loosen it off, and your good to go, seems a common problem on these cars!

NOTE: The stall clutch will die if you keep driving like that.

Hello both,
i hopped in to comment on your problem.. i have been fighting the same problem through a new tranni/torque and still had issues. the cable going into the tranni from the intake was loose and stechted. tighten that until all play in attachment arm is out
