Hi:

We are traveling to Roatan Dec 30 to Jan 17th and have had trouble finding  non-resort lodging.  We are looking ofr something away from the "crowd" of the West End.  we love to snorkel, birdwatch, hike, fish.  Most of the web sites we have been directed to don't seem to cater to the more "rustic" traveler who does not require aire conditioning.

There are a couple of resorts fitting your description in the West End like the Mango Garden and Mermaid Beach.  There is a hotel  right next to Pura Vida Resort that is perfect for your needs but I'm sorry to say I can't recall the name.  Hope hat this helps,
