Question
Hi Im sorry but I have 2 questions!--
1)My Husband and I would like to take a trip to DisneyWorld the 1st week of May. Can you please make some suggestions of which resort to stay at the wouold be the most 'adult-oriented'? We would like to have a fun but still romantic vacation. So im not sure how to avoid being around several children (I know its DisneyWorld!)
Could you also tell us of some activities/theme parks adults alone would more enjoy?

2)We would also like to go away for 1 week for our 1st Anniversary (Either the last week of September or the 1st week of October).  We already went to Hawaii for 2 weeks on our honeymoon. Can you suggest anywhere romantic but still with several activities, that is also not going to affected by bad weather/hurricaines at that time?
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jen!
I find that the number of kids in the Disney Resorts has more to do with when you travel, and the first week of May is a good choice to go since its not a school holiday period.  The Grand Floridian might be the most grownup, and definitely it's also the most expensive.  Also to consider is the Contemporary Resort, since it has a large convention center (and proportionally more adults).  Wilderness Lodge has an intimate feeling, as well as Animal Kingdom Lodge (definitely you'll want a Savannah View).  If budget is a concern, the moderate property Coronado Springs has a convention center so it may have fewer kids compared to the other moderate resorts.  By all means, steer clear of the Value Resorts, they tend to be lots of kids there any time of the year!

Now, on to the Parks...

Epcot is going to feel more grown up compared to the other parks.  There's plenty of elbow room, and the back half of the park with all the different countries appeals to grown ups.  Great dining options here.

Go to the Magic Kingdom on a weekday, and not a weekend.  It is going to be the most kid oriented park of all of them.  And the water parks tend to feel very kid-ish so you might want to avoid them all together.

Disney MGM and Animal Kingdom fall somewhere in between.  You can also get Park Hopping, so if you arrive into one park, and it's just too hectic, you can always go to another (Epcot is our safe haven!)

As a grownup romantic trip, I'd say to stay in the nicest resort you can (a deluxe), and focus on a great dining venue for each of the days you are there.

On to question #2...
In September & October, you are going to find the possibility of hurricanes in the Caribbean, Florida, Mexico, (both coasts), Central America (such as Costa Rica or Belize), and the Gulf Coast.  You've already been to Hawaii.  Tahiti is a great choice, if it falls within budget (I love it there).  I don't know where you are departing from, whether a week in London, Paris, or Rome is possible (and also if it is within budget).  Within the US, you can consider California or Vegas.  And then you can always go to a hurricane-prone area, but just book your trip with travel insurance!

If you'd like actual package pricing and options, feel free to contact me at cindy@expertfamilytravel.com or 800-957-8600.

Best of luck, and I do hope that you enjoy your trips!
