Question I have been married twice before and never gone on a true honeymoon. I am engaged to be married to a man that I have been with for almost three years. We just bought a home and are planning to marry. I would so desperately love to go on a honeymoon cruise or something romantic. We don't have a lot of money but we could come up with maybe $1500.00. from what I hear. this would not get us much and if it did get us on a boat we would be riding to boat up a creek with no money to spend on the trip. I hear of people taking romantic cruises and I want to go but I don't know how they find the good deals they seem to find. How do I know what I'm getting into? Can I go on a cruise within my budget without having to swab the deck? It wouldn't even have to be a cruise if it was romantic. I've never traveled beyond the surrounding states of Arkansas except for flying to Phoenix one time for training on some computer software but I wouldn't classify that as a vacation. Any thoughts?
Answer Tish,
What I do first is see if you can switch your dates to fit into when the cheaper rates are offered. Granted those are the times that can have questionable weather, but there has been some good sales this past January - March.
Next I would look into a cruise ship departure in Texas where you can drive to and save money on airfare. This departure also runs some very good specials.
Lastly don't forget that the cost of the cruise does not include items like beverages onboard. And they do not allow you to bring anything on board, even at the ports unless it is local liquor. This also raises what you are going to pay at the end of the cruise along with the tips. So don't forget the hidden costs.
My suggestion is to check into the Texas departures and if they don't work then you will have to go to Tampa, Ft Lauderdale and Miami for a 3 or 4 night cruise.
