AboutAaron Smith Expertise I have been a horror movie fan since I was allowed to watch them. I have all the Halloween films memorized as well as Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, et al. I'm first in line on a new horror movie opening, including Freddy Vs. Jason, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Wrong Turn. Trust me with your questions involving Horror and I promise I will not dissapoint. Throw any type of horror question at me and I will try 100% to answer it, otherwise I will point you into the direction of one the other honorable volunteers that may be able to.
Experience I have been watching horror movies ever since I was allowed. Im the only crazy person who actually has "Halloween 3: Season of the Witch" which proves I love horror films. My knowledge spans from the 80's to present.
Organizations I am already volunteering in Action & Adventure flicks at this site and I am branching out to more topics in order to help you guys out more.
Question Hi there. I am a HUGE horror film buff myself. I too have loved horror movies since I was a ki, and have seen just about every one ever made. I was wondering if you could help me out here! I get a lot of grief from my feminist friends who say that horror movies are sexist, demeaning to women etc etc I am taking a women's studies course this semester that focuses on how women are portrayed in the media and in pop culture, and decided this would be the perfect opportunity to prove my friends wrong! I am going to write about the current trend I have noticed in modern day horror movies(i.e. Wrong Turn and Wrong Turn 2) where women are not portrayed as helpless and vulnerable, and in need of a man to protect/save them, but are actually the heroines! I wondered if you might be able to help me out with other examples of horror films where females are portrayed as smart, tough, independent etc. Quite frankly I find the trashy romance novels they devour and the silly romantic comedies they love so much to be more insulting to women's intelligence. I would really appreciate any help you could offer. Thanks very much.
Crystal

-Nightmare on Elm Street
-When a Stranger Calls (2006)
-Hellraiser
In these films, the main character (female) is strong, smart and independent.
