Question Hi my name is Oswaldo I have a two year old quarter horse. I galoping him everyday to get him fit. Is this good are should I galop less and what kind of grain would be best for him. How long of a work out should I give him.
Thanks Oswaldo
Answer hi --quarter horses only run 1/4 mile race.so they do not need all that much training once they are ready and fit to run. galloping between races is always a good idea as you can see just how fit your horse is. i feed whole oats and swee feed. i would work the horse at least 3/8 before they race. i was a thoroughbred trainer and i never did train quarter horse, but once you get the horses fit then you can slack off the training if you race often. hope that helps you. thanks ED HESS
