About Ed Hess
Expertise
Have trained thoroughbreds for 30 odd years. Have been a licensed trainer for that long of time. I continue to train my race horses and thoroughly enjoy every day.

Experience

Experience: Licensed trainer for over 30 yrs. Have had lots of winners in all different types of races - from bottom claimers to top quality stakes winners. My best money winner was Aristocratic Cross (multiple stakes winner). My best claiming horse was Navajo Family, winner of 12 races in one year. I still enjoy racing a modest stable of horses each year.

Horse Racing - thoroughbred trainer

Question
I have a thoroughbred that will be 2 in April. We work with him almost everyday (Just Handling) I would like to find a trainer that would help me train him. I am willing to do all the work for his training but I am not a trainer nor do I really know what needs to be done. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Answer
hi - yes,  go to a race track near where you live and talk to some trainers as they can give you  the advise you are looking for. you could also find a training farm that will break your 2 year old for you and maybe you can get a job on that farm and work with your own horse, that way you will get your experience that you will need in the future. there is way too much to know about breaking a 2 year old for the race track for you to learn in a short time. you need to let a experienced race horse trainer on a breaking farm to break and train your 2 year old  so that you can send the horse to a race track to continue to train up to a race. there is no short cut in getting a 2 year broke and  ready to train and eventually get to a race track . hope that helps you  thanks.
