Experience
Experience:
Licensed trainer for over 30 yrs. Have had lots of winners in all different types of races - from bottom claimers to top quality stakes winners. My best money winner was Aristocratic Cross (multiple stakes winner). My best claiming horse was Navajo Family, winner of 12 races in one year. I still enjoy racing a modest stable of horses each year.
Question I race 4 years and have 2 years horses[as owner]not sure how to knew if my 4 year horse is good 4 1600m or 2000m and how to trained him 4 either distend, also how to train the 2 years old and 4 what distend they will be suitable
Answer hi you will have to train them and see how they take to the training. i always gallop a horse 2 miles a day, just gallop, not a open gallop. after 30 days of galloping with no workouts, i start working them slowly , starting at 3 furlongs then after one more week another work at 1/2 mile, then after one more week of galloping another work at 5 furlongs then one more week of galloping and another 6 fur work.that is 2 full months of galloping and 4 work outs then you have to have at least 2 gate works to make sure the horse is O.K.'d to start that includes some published gate works. you will find out if the horse runs good from lots of work, or maybe the horse needs not so much training . you have to get to know your horse.. good luck thanks ED HESS
