Experience:
Licensed trainer for over 30 yrs. Have had lots of winners in all different types of races - from bottom claimers to top quality stakes winners. My best money winner was Aristocratic Cross (multiple stakes winner). My best claiming horse was Navajo Family, winner of 12 races in one year. I still enjoy racing a modest stable of horses each year.

Question I just recently got a 3 year old thoroughbred that is off the track. he bowed his tendon last year, so quit after 5 races. his tendon looks to be in decent shape and a vet has cleared him. i am planning on riding dressage and possibly very low level eventer. I just wanted to know if you had any advice to how i should go about his rehab. the owner i got him from said he's all set to get training, but i know enough about tendons to know that going to fast could easily restrain it. any thoughts?
Answer HI ,I HAVE HAD MANY BOWED HORSES AND RACED THEM WITH MUCH LUCK. A LOW BOW IS THE BEST ONE TO HAVE, AS IT HAS PULLED THE TENDON MOST OF THE WAY, A HIGH OR MIDDLE BOW ISN'T TOO GOOD ,AS IT WILL EVENTUALLY BOW AGAIN. THE TYPE OF TRAINING YOU ARE PLANNING TO DO SHOULD BE OK FOR A BOW TENDON. I WOULD KEEP A LIGHT BRACE OR TIGHTENER ON THE LEG AND DO HIM UP DAILY WITH COTTON BANDAGES. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU THANKS ED HESS
