Question
How is the best way to keep a palomino horse clean looking. Just purchased a gelding, he is very dirty from being in a muddy pasture. I bathed him in reg. horse shampoo' lots of dirt came out but lots remained. I put show shine on him thinking it would brimg out a shine but it just made him a greasy mess; I have to wait for a warm day to bath him again. Help? charlene

Answer
Hi
You can keep your clean by, when u put him out in the fiel use a winter rug. You can get these from any horse shop. These rungs are washable. Also not all horse can be kept clean. It may be because of there hair type. If i was u i would get some shampoo. You can use any sort of shampoo. You can even use the shampoo that we use. Find one that you want, maybe a cheap tesco one. and bath your horse with that until all the grease has come out. Keep using the same shampoo all the time. Some horses will look dirty all the time because sometimes they have been washed to much. Just leave your horse for while, and let some of the oils come back. If you horse does get dirty, then just brush all the dirt of. Thats what i do. If my horse is covered in mud i brush the dirt of and thats it.

Horses sometimes only need to be bath 2 times a year.

So dont bath your horse just yet. Let some of the oils come back in that body hair. and use a cheap shampoo. Doesnt have to be horse shampoo. It can be any.

If Show shine isnt very nice for your horse, then dont use it.

If you find nothing isnt working. Let me know and i will give you more information on other products you can use.

I hope i have been able to help. Good Luck
