Subject: donating to horse welfare foundation
Question all of our 5 horses we have are over the age of 20 except for a 16 year old ex-race horse who was never re-trained, and some also have health problems like ring bone and founder. they just sit in our pasture now and a few are occasionally ridden. we do not have enough money and time to keep all of them especially since we don't ever get to ride anymore. i was thinking we could donate a few to a horse welfare foundation. my mom laughed at this idea and said that they already have to much horses and cant afford to keep them either. is this true? they make it seem like a positive thing if you donate your horse including a tax write off.should we consider this?
Answer hi sarah, if your horses are not being used and you cannot afford them then yes donate them. even though they have health problems by donating them they can get the proper treatment they need. the one horse with the founder esspreacially. this is a very serious problem and may result in the death of the horse. this problem needs to be adressed ASAP. a horse welfar foundation will also be able to find them new homes if they decide to adopt them out. i think it is a great idea to donate them. good lcuk
