Question Hi Amanda
I have just bought a rising 2yr old mare and needing to now whats the best to feed her , she is in a small paddock with not alot of grass as we are just out of spring with lots of new sugar rich grass
i am feeding her fiberpro and breeda nuts with a small teaspoon of magnesium as our soils are low should i be feeding any more supplements. I plan to event and show jump with her Thanks.
Answer hi angela!
congratulations on your new filly. as far as supplements go yes there are a few you should feed her to help her body prepare for eventing and jumping. feeding her msm will greatly help strengthen her joins or any other joint supplement will help too. electrolites will also help her body stay hydrated and in peak condition. you do not however have to give this to her until you are riding and showing. right now she doesnt need it because she is not in high performance training. also feed her hooflex. this will keep her hooves healthy and strong so they dont chip or crack. as of right now this shuld be good. you have her feet covered and her joints covered. when you start showing you will want to get more supplements for her coat, blood, electrolites, cod liver oil, protien, energy booster, muscle builder, anything that will help her performance and overall health. for now though just cover her joints and hooves because they are the most important. no hoof no horse. for grains you can feed her junior this will help balance out her system. mare and foal too will give her extra nutrition and will help keep weight on her. if you have any other questions just let me know and i will be happy to help.
p.s. i love to get pictures from my readers and would love to see your little filly. keep me updated on her training and life. good lcuk i know you will do great!
Amanda
