QUESTION: Hi Anne,
Yes I did hear back from Dr. Hogan. And following both of your advice I contacted a vet hospital in North Georgia and hauled Kave up there. They did a lot of cleaning on it and scrapped it and it seems to be doing a lot better now. There is new meat growing in and its finally starting to scab over which the vet said is a good sign. They said I did a good job with the penicillin and cleaning because he didn't have any infection in the bone or in his joint. So I was pretty happy with the outcome, he will also recover fully and still be able to carry passengers. Apparently young horses are a lot more resilient than older ones. And on top of that more good news as of next week he is officially mine. The police tracked down the original owners and they signed him over to the animal shelter so I can officially adopt him, and the are being prosecuted for cruelty to animals and abandonment! So all in all things are turning out great.
ANSWER: Hi Ashley.
Just wondered how Kave is doing! :)

QUESTION: He is doing wonderfully, his ankle is almost healed, and he is adjusting really well to his new home. You can tell how grateful he is, that may sound a little nuts, but I swear its true he is so sweet and loving and he is finally putting on some weight. And its really strange but he has adopted my stud as his foster parent and whats even more strange is that Sampson has actually let him and he watches over him and takes care of him like a mare would her own colt. They are quite a pair...lol. I am really satisfied with the way things have turned out, and I know in the end Kave is going to be a wonderful horse he is great with all my kids he is like a big puppy to them he follows them around and when they stand still he will go up behind them and bump them with his nose wanting attention, its so cute. Thank you for all your help and for actually caring about him. Not many people really care these days and I'm glad there is someone like you that can help people when they need it most.
Answer Ashley,
That is wonderful news!!!! To be honest, when I forst saw the pictures and heard what the previous vet had told you to do, I worried about him making it.
I am glad I could help in some small way. But YOU are the real hero! You not only rescued him, you were diligent in getting him the care he needed. I suspect that if Patty Hogan had said "Have him to my hospital on Monday" you would have found a way to do it!
Loved the picture---he certainly is bright eyed!!! (Did you ever get a chance to check out Progressive Nutrition?) Here's hoping that he heals completely---no rpoud flesh if you want to show him--and he is robust and healthy for many years! I ask many people to keep me posted but it seems few have the time...I certainly wouldn't mind an update and/or a picture now and then if you think of it :)
Best of luck and continued success with your boy!!!!
