Question My horse has just come into season, but for the last week or so i have noticed her teats are rock solid and a little lumpy! I was wondering if this is compleatly normel for being in season, even though she has never has these syptoms before! Or could it be an age thing she is 15 now! Please could you give me as much information as you know as i dont want to call a vet out and it be something silly! thank you
Answer Dear Tasha,
Hmmm... you don't mention if she is any discomfort or if there is any discharge. Sometimes mares can go through a "false pregnancy" and actually begin to lactate as their hormone levels change. The fact that this is unusual for your mare is probably worth at least a phone consultation with your vet.
I hope this is of some help.
