Horses/cantering - body position

hello, while cantering a horse, do i need to lean forward or keep my spine straight? i am totally new to horseback riding.

It all depends on what you are doing. When cantering on the flat, you should be sitting up, possibly a little bit forward but with the weight still down through your legs into your heels. Listen to what your instructor tells you, they should be giving you feedback as you ride.
